When you look at everything that you’re offering, is there one thing that perfectly reflects everything you want to do, your expertise, your vision and how you want to help people? Without hesitation, you would recommend your signature offer. It’s the work you’re most excited to get into the hands of your customers. In this post I’m sharing 5 reasons with you why you need a signature offer.
#1 The Opportunity To Become A Better Teacher
Focusing on one signature offer can mean that you become a better teacher. When I was trying to teach everything I couldn’t keep up, and neither can you – especially when you’re just starting out.
When you have a signature offer, you can dive in deep. You can build your expertise, do more pieces of training, learn from your students and how you can get them better results, and really become a true expert.
For example, if you love yin yoga, you can make that your signature offer and learn as much as possible about the background of yin yoga and then practice teaching it as much as possible, and you will become a better yin yoga teacher. When you teach vinyasa yoga, meditation, and yoga for beginner workshops, and just 1 yin yoga class a week, how will you ever become a really great yin yoga teacher, right?
#2 Better Results For Your Clients
If you’re a better teacher or coach, your clients will get better results. But it’s not only the quality of your teachings – if you create an offer around a specific topic you can go deeper than if you create a program that covers everything.
Having a signature offer allows you to focus on in-depth content for the offer without having to hold back. You’re able to give your best content in your courses and get people big results.
The clients who sign up for your signature program around a specific topic are invested – they want to learn more. This means that they are more motivated to actually do the work and show up, and that will also get them better results. This will lead to better testimonials which you can share and attract even more clients in the future.
#3 Running Your Business Will Be A Lot Easier
Focusing on a signature offer creates simplicity so you can hone your skills in one area and become the expert, but it will also give you the opportunity to simplify your marketing and promotions.
When you have a ton of different offers, promoting all of them becomes a nightmare unless you have a team to support you. Really focusing on one thing that you sell will make your life so much easier.
For example, when people come to your homepage and they don’t have to explore a ton of different offers, but instead they see what you do and how you can help them right away, they’re more likely to sign up and be super clear about what they’re getting from you. The same is true for social media. When you are known for one thing, you can create content around that topic.
It also means that you don’t have to do so much! Launching can really take it out of you, and if you do it every 2 months, you will be exhausted, your audience will be exhausted, and you’ll probably never see the same results as if you have 1 or 2 big launches a year, where you have the chance to really build excitement around it.
#4 More Visibility
When you become known for one thing, it’s a lot easier to get visibility.
You can pitch yourself to other people’s podcasts more easily because they will know what you stand for, you can guest blog around your chosen signature topic and you can get PR.
People will also be more likely to remember you because you’re not offering everything under the sun, and are specialized in one area. If someone asks about Yin Yoga, they’ll remember that they spoke to someone who specializes in exactly that and will send this person to your website or social channels.
#5 More Income
Having a signature offer will allow you to make more money.
First, your signature offer normally is also a bit more profound and bigger than let’s say a starter course. You would teach a full framework, and this means you can ask for a higher price – which means that you earn more money, even if fewer people are buying your product.
For example, if you have a course that you sell for $200, you need to sell it 50 times to earn $10k. When you have a course that you sell for $1000, you only need to sell it 10 times to earn the same amount. This is actually a lot easier, especially if you don’t have a huge audience!
What’s Stopping People From Having A Signature Offer?
A lot of the time, fear is holding us back. Fear of calling yourself the expert, fear of really putting yourself out there. Instead, you might want to create a small offer for beginners, a small online course, and you don’t plan a big promotion or launch because hey, it’s just a small offer!
I’ve been there, and I’ve seen it happen a lot with my students too. I’ve also seen what happens when you create a lower-priced offer, like a low-priced membership or a course that you sell for $100/$200.
I’ve done that and you want to know what happened to my business? Not much, besides a lot of work creating the course, marketing it, and then supporting my students. My business changed when I offered my first $1000 course. This is when I started to see my income increase to a level that allowed me to give up freelancing and focus on my own business which was my passion.
It took me way too long to get there, to create the first signature program that I offered for a premium price, and I don’t want you to stay stuck where I was, creating new offers all the time, while never earning enough for a full-time income, never earning enough to hire support so you can grow and make a bigger impact.
If you have a roadmap to a specific transformation—whether you got results for yourself or you get results for your clients, and you’ve got that step-by-step process, and you can promise a transformation when people go through your program and implement what you teach them—then you’ve got a signature offer that you can create inside of your business.
Make it the most amazing offer, refine it, beef it up, brand it, make it transformative for your clients so they get results and you get great testimonials.
