I'm Susanne!

hey there

Let’s talk about something that doesn’t get enough attention when it comes to growing your business online:

The fear of being seen.

Not just seen in the sense of reach or engagement numbers — but truly allowing yourself to be visible. To share your presence, your voice, your story.

Because here’s what I’ve found, both in my own journey and with so many of my students:

You can be doing everything “right.” Posting consistently. Offering value. Building funnels. Sharing tips.

And still… things feel stuck.

Low engagement. Low sales. A nagging sense that something isn’t clicking.

And most of the time, it’s not about strategy or the algorithm. It’s not even about your offer.

It’s about the energy behind how you’re showing up.

You might be hiding in plain sight.

What Hiding in Plain Sight Really Looks Like

You’re on Instagram. You’re creating content. Maybe you’ve got a beautiful grid, clever captions, a few behind-the-scenes moments.

But when you pause and really check in… are you letting people see you?

Not your polished version. Not just your Canva templates and class flyers.

But your voice. Your energy. Your real perspective.

For many heart-led entrepreneurs, especially in the yoga and wellness space, it feels safer to stay behind the scenes. To share tips instead of opinions. To post a quote instead of your face.

And I get it. I did this, too.

When I started my business, I called it “Happy Yoga Marketing.” I didn’t even use my own name. I was comfortable creating helpful content — but I wasn’t letting people connect with me.

And it showed.

When I Finally Stopped Hiding

Eventually, I realized: if I wanted people to trust me, to feel something when they came across my content, I had to stop playing it safe.

I started showing up as myself.

Using my real name. Speaking more openly. Sharing not just what I know, but who I am.

It wasn’t about being loud or dramatic. It was about being real. And the shift was immediate.

People reached out. They connected. Sales came more easily, not because my marketing was suddenly more advanced, but because there was more of me in it.

Why Visibility Builds Trust (and Sales)

You don’t need to share your deepest personal stories if that doesn’t feel aligned. But you do need to let people in — even just a little.

Because people don’t buy from perfectly curated brands. They buy from people they trust.

When your content feels flat or disconnected, it’s often because there’s no real presence behind it.

And when your audience doesn’t feel connected to you, it’s harder for them to take the next step, whether that’s joining your class, signing up for your course, or enrolling in your program.

Practices to Help You Feel Safer Being Seen

If visibility feels vulnerable (and let’s be honest, it often does), here are a few things that have helped me and my students ease into it, without forcing anything:

#1 Use a grounding affirmation

Before you post or record something, take a breath and remind yourself:

“I’m here to serve. I’m here for them.”

That little sentence helps me stop thinking about how I look or whether it’s perfect… and reminds me why I’m doing this in the first place.

You can write it on a post-it. Stick it on your laptop. Whisper it to yourself before you press record. Let it become an anchor — something that steadies you when the nerves kick in.

#2 Try EFT tapping

If you haven’t done this before, EFT, or tapping, is a technique that helps calm your nervous system by applying gentle pressure to specific points on your body — while saying affirming phrases out loud.

It might sound a bit strange at first, but it really does help, especially with something like fear of visibility, which often sits in the body, not just the mind.

Here’s a simple one to try:

Start by tapping the side of your hand and say:

“Even though I’m scared to be seen, I’m open to feeling safe now.”

Then gently move through the other points — your eyebrow, side of the eye, under the eye, under the nose, chin, collarbone, and under the arm — and repeat some soft, honest phrases like:

  • “It feels vulnerable to be visible.”
  • “I’m afraid of being judged.”
  • “Part of me wants to stay hidden.”
  • “And that’s okay.”
  • “I choose to trust myself.”
  • “I can show up in small ways.”
  • “I am safe to be seen.”

Just a minute or two can help you shift from tension into calm. And the more often you practice it, the more quickly your body starts to believe it.

#3 Name the fear

If you feel a knot in your stomach before you go live… or you suddenly find yourself procrastinating on posting something that feels a bit more personal…

Pause. Breathe. And say something like:

“This feels scary right now.”

Or,

“I’m feeling exposed, and I don’t love that.”

You’re not trying to push the fear away. You’re just meeting it with compassion. And that simple act of acknowledging what’s there — without judgment — often softens the grip it has over you.

#4 Speak to one person

Think of one person — maybe a student you’ve helped, or someone who’s emailed you to say your class or your post made a difference. Picture them in your mind. Imagine speaking just to them.

That small shift — from performing to connecting — changes everything. Your content stops being about proving something… and becomes an act of service.

# 5 Start small

We often think we need to be super confident or have it all figured out before we start showing up more fully. But in my experience, confidence usually comes after the action — not before.

So don’t wait to feel perfectly ready. Just take one small step.

Maybe that’s posting a photo of yourself with a short caption. Or recording a little story in your own voice. Or writing about something that actually matters to you — even if it’s not polished.

You don’t have to leap into full visibility overnight. You just need to begin.

Final Thoughts: You’re Not Being Visible for You

You’re showing up for the people you’re here to help.

And when you hide, they miss out.

This isn’t about being perfect or polished. It’s about being present. Letting people get to know you. Building real trust.

Because that’s what turns followers into students — and content into income.

So if you’ve been stuck or second-guessing yourself lately, I want to leave you with this:

You don’t need to do more. You just need to show up more fully — as yourself.

Even one small step this week could change everything.
