Handwritten fonts are the perfect choice if you want to add a personal touch and some style and elegance to your website or social media posts. I love using them and spend way too much time on websites like www.creativemarket.com looking for new ones to try out. In this collection, I present you 10 of my favorite handwritten fonts (in no particular order). I’m sure you’ll love them!
Some of the following links are affiliate links, meaning that I will receive a small commission if you buy through them.
Saturday
Saturday Script is a care-free, handwritten font with authentic tell-tale dry brush imperfections, that’s elegant and easy to read. I use it on this website for sub-headlines.
Hello Beautiful
This is a casual, arty Hand Script consisting of upper and lowercase letters, punctuation and numerals. It’s a bit bolder and I used it for my logo.
Bellissimo
Bellissimo is similar to Hello Beautiful, but the letters are a bit straighter. It’s a trendy, hand-brushed font, designed with branding in mind.
Aescudos
Aescudos is a natural handwritten font that is perfect for logotype, headline, invitations, greeting cards and more.
Argentina Script
A very elegant font with flourished letters. I find it a bit harder to read so would probably only use it for headlines, not for a longer text.
Saltery Brush Font
Saltery is a casual, and stylish brush font that has a bit of a vintage feel. I can see this to promote a yoga & surf retreat or a recipe blog.
Wonderfall Script
Wonderfall comes with a natural twist and casual style. This font emulates a handwritten marker effect, just perfect if you’re looking for a trendy and stylish font to use on social media quotes images. And the best part, it features an additional set of dingbats with outlined floral shapes and decorative ornamental lines.
Jelytta
Jelytta is a beautiful and feminine font that’s also easy to read, so great for longer sub-headlines. It looks classy and sophisticated.
Northwell
I really like this beautiful, modern font that has a lot of charm. With quick dry strokes and a signature style, Northwell is perfect for branding projects.
Playlist Script
Just to mix it up, this is a free font that’s available in Canva. You can use it for your social media posts, quotes you design for Instagram, flyers, or anything else you want to design with Canva. Just be aware that because it’s free a lot of people are using it.
So, how do use these custom handwritten fonts?
If you don’t have Photoshop I recommend signing up for Canva Pro (with the free plan you can’t upload your own fonts unfortunately). That’s what I use and I love it! To add your new font choose “Brand Kit” in the left menu. Click on “Upload new font” and upload the .otf file of your font. You need to confirm that you own that font and are allowed to do so (you are if you bought the font) and that’s it, your new font will be available in the font selection menu when you create a new design.
When you want to use the font on your website, you probably will have to convert it into a webfont first. You can use for example this webfont generator from Font Squirrel.
After you uploaded your .otf font you can download your webfont kit and upload your font as a webfont it to your website, if your theme allows this. I use the Avada theme for WordPress and I can upload my own fonts in the theme settings. If you use a different theme or website builder, you need to check if this is possible. Alternatively, you can create images with your new font in Canva and upload them to your website. This works too.
