One of the questions I get asked more than almost any other is where to actually start when you want to build online income as a yoga teacher. Not more studio classes, not more privates, but real income you earn online.
So let’s make it concrete. Imagine you want to add $1,000 a month to your income. That feels doable, doesn’t it?
And it doesn’t stop there. Once you understand how this works, $2,000, $5,000, even $10,000 months become possible with courses, coaching, and programs. But the first thousand is where everything changes, so that’s where we’re going to start.
Why an extra $1,000 a month matters so much for yoga teachers
For a lot of yoga teachers, an extra thousand dollars a month is genuinely life changing. It could cover your mortgage, or your kids’ education, or the training you’ve been quietly wanting to do for years.
Or it could simply be that feeling of, yes, I did this. I built this. And now I get to grow it.
There’s more than one way to get there, though, and the options are not equally easy. So let’s walk through them honestly.
The problem with starting with a high-ticket program
The first option is the one I used to recommend all the time. You sell a bigger program, something you have real expertise in, priced at $1,000 or more.
And this can work beautifully. I’ve had students launch their program and make $5,000, even $20,000, in their very first launch. I freakin love watching that happen.
But then what happens after that first launch?
Your first launch goes out to your warm audience, the people who already know and trust you. They’re the most ready to buy, so they do. When your audience is still small though, the next launch often flops. You might make two sales, and then nothing for a couple of months, because you’ve already sold to everyone who was ready and you don’t yet have a system bringing in new people.
I loved selling a premium program for years. Some months I’d sell four spots and make $20,000, and that felt wonderful. It worked because I had income from other projects and payment plans already covering my costs, so a quiet month didn’t really hurt.
That’s the part most yoga teachers miss. A high-ticket program is a beautiful thing to have once you’ve got that foundation underneath you. But when it’s the only thing you’re leaning on and your audience is small, those lopsided months land directly on you.
The problem with cheap, low-priced offers
So a lot of teachers go the other way and decide to sell something cheap instead.
Say you sell something for $10. To reach your thousand-dollar goal, you now need 100 sales every single month. And just because something is cheaper doesn’t mean more people buy it.
Here’s a recent example from my own business. Last week I opened a new $7 a month tier for my membership with a free seven-day trial. Seven dollars, and you don’t even pay until the trial ends.
You’d think people would jump at that. I have around 4,000 people on my email list, and from the first email about it I got five new members. Even something free or very affordable still asks people for time and energy, and they don’t always have that in the moment. It’s not only about the price.
The golden middle: the offer price that actually works
So if a big program leaves most of your months quiet, and a cheap offer needs too many sales, where’s the sweet spot?
For me, the golden middle is somewhere between $27 and $47. That’s a price where someone can say yes fairly easily, without a long deliberation or checking with their partner first. It’s an easy yes.
And the math works. If you sell something at $47, you need around twenty sales a month to make your extra thousand dollars. Twenty sales feels reachable in a way that a hundred doesn’t, and it’s far steadier than waiting for one or two people to commit to a big program.
Once this is working, you’re not stuck at a thousand. This is the exact foundation the $5,000 and $10,000 months get built on later. But it starts with one simple offer that sells.
Where I’d actually start: one simple digital offer
Once you see the math laid out like that, where to start gets really clear. I’d begin with one simple digital offer that packages your yoga expertise into something people actually want to buy. One clear thing that solves one real problem for your students.
One of my students built exactly this for the sensitive, highly attuned women she works with. Her offer teaches a simple daily practice to stop absorbing the chaos of the world and reclaim your energetic boundaries, and she sold 11 spots in her very first launch.
Another student works with women in midlife. She created seven short guided practices to help women stop running on empty and come home to themselves, priced at $37, and sold 12 spots. One topic, one clear result, one easy-yes price.
The next step is to build a simple system around that offer, so it doesn’t end with a single launch. A system whose only job is to grow your audience and bring new people to your offer, consistently.
The offer, plus the system that feeds it. That’s your Honey Flow, and everything else in your business grows from there.
The Pollination Path: a simple funnel that feels like you
I know the word funnel makes a lot of yoga teachers flinch. You picture countdown timers, fake scarcity, those “cart closes at midnight” emails that make your skin crawl. That’s not what this is.
What my students build is something I call the Pollination Path, and it works without any of the bro marketing tricks.
It starts with a freebie, something small and genuinely useful that gives people a quick win and connects naturally to your paid offer. That’s actually why we create the paid offer first, so the freebie really leads somewhere.
Someone finds your content, wants the freebie, and joins your email list to get it. Right after signing up, they see your offer for the first time. No pressure, just a gentle next step.
Most people won’t buy in that moment, and that’s completely fine. They need a little trust and connection first. So over the next few days a short email sequence goes out automatically, and these are not the boring, generic welcome emails you’re imagining.
The first emails introduce your offer with a special price or bonus for joining now. Then you stop selling and simply share value, your story, a belief you want to shift, a few favorite resources.
And then comes the part almost nobody does, which is honestly the secret to why this works. You open the doors to your offer again for two days, for everyone who wasn’t ready the first time.
Because most people who don’t buy on the first pass aren’t saying a hard no. They were busy, or they missed an email, or the timing was slightly off. When you give them a real second chance to say yes, that reopening is where most of the sales happen.
That’s the Pollination Path. A system that quietly turns freebie subscribers into buyers in the background, working while you’re teaching a class or having dinner with your family.
Your Honey Flow, all in one place
So here’s what you actually need. One simple offer priced in that easy-yes range where a thousand dollars is only around twenty sales away. A freebie that gives a quick win and leads to that offer. And a Pollination Path behind it that grows your list and turns subscribers into buyers over time.
That’s your Honey Flow. It’s how you make your first steady thousand, and it’s the same structure that carries you well beyond it when you’re ready.
All without needing a big audience or a big, scary program to make the numbers work.
