What happens when a successful fitness entrepreneur walks away from it all? In this episode of the Blissful Biz Podcast, I sat down with Carys Andersson to talk about burnout, building from scratch, and creating a wellness business that actually supports your well-being.
Carys has done it all — professional dancer, fitness coach, top-10 podcast host, and founder of a booming membership. But after reaching the peak of her success, she hit a wall. Hard.
Now, she’s channeling everything she learned into a very different kind of business — one that starts with nervous system regulation, self-trust, and authentic impact.
Let’s dive into her story and the powerful transformation behind her new app, Vybly.
Building a Booming Fitness Brand — and Burning Out Anyway
Carys began her entrepreneurial journey in 2017 after moving to New York from the UK. With a background in dance and performance, she started a fitness membership that included yoga and meditation.
Her goal? 100 members. Her first launch? 10 people.
But she kept going.
When the pandemic hit in 2020, her business was already set up for online success. Her workouts were fun, efficient, and home-friendly. She had just had her first baby, was running classes with her newborn strapped to her chest, and finally hit that 100-member mark. Her podcast was thriving. She was featured in magazines.
On the surface, everything looked perfect.
But after having her second baby, the pressure to grow — to make more, achieve more, be more — caught up with her. The hustle mindset she’d internalized as a fitness entrepreneur became overwhelming. She felt stuck in a cycle of constantly needing to perform, push, and prove her worth.
Eventually, she burned out.
The Wake-Up Call: When Mindset Isn’t Enough
As her energy faded, Carys realized something important: the very mindset tools she was teaching were also contributing to her burnout.
She had spent years promoting “positive thinking,” productivity hacks, and fitness accountability — but she wasn’t feeling grounded or regulated. She was suppressing emotions in the name of staying motivated.
“I thought I was doing nervous system regulation,” she shared. “But working out and five-minute meditations weren’t enough. I was just overriding what I was really feeling.”
Discovering EFT Tapping: A Tool for Real Transformation
That’s when Carys discovered EFT Tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique) — a therapeutic modality that combines modern psychology with ancient acupressure points to release emotional blocks and rewire thought patterns.
What set EFT apart for her was its compassion-first approach.
Instead of forcing yourself into high vibes or repeating affirmations you don’t believe, EFT begins with accepting how you truly feel. Whether it’s anger, fear, anxiety, or self-doubt — the practice gives space for it all. Then, through gentle tapping and supportive language, you shift into a new state of being.
“It’s like a warm hug for your nervous system,” Carys said. “You’re telling your body it’s safe to feel. Safe to heal. Safe to move forward.”
Creating Vybly: Making Nervous System Support Accessible
With her passion reignited, Carys set out to bring EFT to the masses — not through a high-ticket coaching program, but through an app designed to make tapping simple and accessible.
Her new platform, Vybly, is built around the idea that nervous system regulation should be part of your daily life — not something you save for when you’re burned out.
What makes Vybly unique is that it’s non-woo, emotionally grounded, and practical. You don’t need to be deep into the wellness world to benefit from it. You just need to be willing to show up.
A New Approach to Business (and Success)
One of the most powerful parts of our conversation was hearing how differently Carys is building this new business. No more pretending. No more performance. No more chasing.
She’s done with “bro” marketing tactics, fake urgency, and pressure-based selling. She’s also done building offers around what people *say* they want (like a six-pack in six weeks) — instead, she’s focused on what people truly *need*.
“Before, I was showing up with this big smile, hiding how I really felt,” she said. “Now I’m building from a place of calm, clarity, and authenticity. I want to prove that you *can* create success without sacrificing your soul.”
Lessons for Purpose-Driven Entrepreneurs
Whether you’re in the middle of burnout, coming out the other side, or just trying to build your business in a more aligned way — Carys’ story is a beautiful reminder that:
- You don’t have to keep doing what no longer feels good
- Rest, healing, and inner work can lead to your most powerful ideas
- You can create a business that supports your nervous system, not drains it
- Marketing can be intuitive, ethical, and still effective
- You’re allowed to start over, no matter how far you’ve come
